P is for peace
L is for love
U is for unity
R is for respect

These are the four pillars of the house/dance community. You want to talk about people who are in tune. With life, love it’s absolutely amazing. I think we should use it as the moderator of our conduct on this site. It’s universally understandable and not opposing or demeaning in any way.

Thank you for your prompt response, now about the vodka thing?...lol

Avatar absoluteliquid Moderator 971 post(s)

hahaha. Oh yeah. It has nothing to do with vodka. It actually morphed from some computer generated email suggestion I got back in the mid 90s. I guess I just like the way it sounds. And I never have any problems logging on to new sites with it so it works.

And yours is from the Simon and Garfunkel song?

I’m with the PLUR movement for the site’s code of conduct. Ignorance is not bliss.. It’s ignorant..

ya I am all for PLUR movement

Avatar kookookachoo Moderator 1,412 post(s)

Actually, Ab, I pulled it from the Beatles’ I am the walrus, but most people think that kookookachoo is not the actual lyric that they are singing. Interesting, though, you are the first person to bring up the Simon and Garfunkel thing and you are absolutely (lol) right, I think that is the actual lyric that S & G are singing! I love this PLUR. Thank you for telling me about somethuing so beautiful.

Avatar absoluteliquid Moderator 971 post(s)

I don’t have that Beatles song in any of my vinyl and that’s the only way I’ll listen to the Beatles. Maybe I’ll google it when I’m bored.
If ignorance IS bliss there are some mighty happy people out there.

Avatar kookookachoo Moderator 1,412 post(s)

Actually, that may not be the title of the song. I think it is on the Sgt. Pepper album (?)

Avatar Thurisaz 12 post(s)

It is on Magical Mystery Tour. The Beatles spelled it something like, “goo goo gachub” or something. It might be something in another language, but if so no language I am at all familiar with.

PLUR…very nice…for any level of faith…or lack there of…

Avatar absoluteliquid Moderator 971 post(s)

And if explained could transcend all language barriers given that it was presented to open minded individuals. I am glad you guys(gals) get it.

“I am glad you guys(gals) get it.”

Some people don’t? Really?

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

I think people who come into these forum sites USUALLY tend to be more open and willing to consider other opinions…

Avatar absoluteliquid Moderator 971 post(s)

Yes. Really.

i like PLUR, but think for a board like this i’d go with PLHR even though it’s not as easy to say …
U for unity is a tough goal given all our different beliefs, faiths, and stances. That’s why I prefer H for humility. When you are humble enough to know that your views are not superior to anyone else’s (mostly), it tends to lead to much more productive and interesting discussions, and less “you’re wrong!” “No, you’re wrong!”

Avatar kookookachoo Moderator 1,412 post(s)

Blue there is a another thread with a discussion about pride and humility, but i can’t remember which one… Maybe you’ve already discovered it, I just came online a short time ago.

Edit: please refer to my new topic about some of these discussions that are now missing, you may not be able to find that thread anymore, but, hey, I’ll be glad to repeat myself if you like.

That’s true. But you must admit, PLUR sounds cooler. X3

And it’s much more pronounceable, if such a word as pronounceable exists lol

Avatar MissAnne_M_Lee 5 post(s)

I have seen that acronym on several of the threads, but had no idea what it meant. Thank you for clearing up MY ingorance, as well as, I’m sure, a lot of others. And yes BlueSox, H is a loftier goal but unfortunately, I think, that Humility is a lot less attainable than Unity is. That’s just my opinion.

Sir kookoo…the english language is endlessly fun and inventive…

Avatar absoluteliquid Moderator 971 post(s)

Bump

Avatar Zil 29 post(s)

Cool. This sould be stickied but from what I gather, there is no real admin/moderators? lol

Avatar absoluteliquid Moderator 971 post(s)

No, not as you’d notice. We’ve moderated ouselves fairly well so far. But a rational interacting administrator has yet to make an appearence.
