I am noticing that we are not many people right now, but I think this website may grow. We are able to respond to each others posts quickly because it is currently so small. However, our behavior in some of the topics is similar to a chatroom. Perhaps if anyone knows who the webmasters are, they could contact them and ask about chatrooms. It is going to be more and more difficult to pick up our threads as we grow. Anyone?

Yes. But that is why it is so awesome it isn’t commercial yet. It is discussion between intellectuals. I love it. It is everything I have been looking for. Now maybe I can lay off the documentaries. hahaha

Boy oh boy, for a computer illiterate, I sure know all the lingo! lol

Avatar absoluteliquid Moderator 968 post(s)

I love this too. I was just at the moment in my life when I wanted a forum to talk to other intellectuals about pertinent topics but not be drowned in some enormous site. I am certainly interested in what kind of external moderation (if any) is going on here.
I posted a while ago and it had the F word in it. I haven’t seen it since but forgot what thread it was in… anyway, this is definitely cool right now.

The nice thing about this is unlike a chat room people will be able to read this weeks from now.

That’s true, ab, I forgot about that possibility, my thought processes are a bit slower than my fingers today. Here we go now, off into History! (until the mysterious beings that created this site take it away from us?!). Who knows, my dear, but I am really enjoying these discussions.

We are here on the ground floor,as it were…

Avatar absoluteliquid Moderator 968 post(s)

Quite right. Where we go from here is up to us.

The webmaster can be contacted at webmaster@godstilllovesus.org—at least that’s the contact address given for DMCA issues under the site’s terms of use.

Chatrooms have the disadvantage of being ephemeral, unless you’re using chat logging software—maybe a better idea is to encourage people to link to other threads? AFAIK each thread has its own permanent URL. It’s more helpful to other readers to say “see discussion here” and provide the link rather than just saying “that’s on another thread”.

I totally agree with all you guys. I just discovered this site today and it’s already taken hold of me.. i’ve read most of the threads in the past hour or so =D It’s REALLY cool to read conversations between people that are actually willing to debate about such a controversial topic without getting offended. That has NEVER been my experience… ever.

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

Such discussions on a rational…or at least civil level…are quite rare…Woo-Yay this site…

“Such discussions on a rational…or at least civil level…are quite rare…”

A depressing lil’ fact, huh? Lol.

Avatar kookookachoo Moderator 1,331 post(s)

Well, we are not always as civil as we could be, myself included, but a fairly civil and honest debate is taking place here most of the time. As far as the link to other threads thing, I can point and click, make documents and type really well, but that’s about the extent of my computer skills. And email is still a bit of a mystery in that I can reply to one, but making one up from scratch sometimes messes me up. So many people have told me that they haven’t received them when I ask that I’ve stopped asking! lol Also, that attachment thing. Oh, woe is me, a new topic: We must help poor kookookachoo!

Oh, btw, (see, I do know the lingo!), has anyone tried to contact these webmaster people and has anyone received a reply, because if I try to do it, I’ll probably fry the server or something, whatever a server is and if it is servered sunny side up or over easy!

I went to the right topic for this comment for sure this time…

We are now getting much larger and I have to say that I may be missing some of you good folks comments because of a press for time (only once in awhile, tho). If I forget or I miss something or need to make an overdue reply, please bear with me and feel free to remind me in any of these threads. (I think there is a natural alzheimers with old people like me, we’ve learned too much over the years to remember it all or even in the right order, but start a new topic then, kook…) (and, I think the human mind has an infinite capacity to remember song lyrics, but then again, isn’t that song thing in another topic, OMG, kook’s boat has left the dock for sure)

Edit: There’s also that quote from a movie I don’t remember about people that speak in the third person about themselves being slightly dotty. But, hey, Queen Victoria does (did) it. Any comment from our resident British subject, rb? I love it when you comment on my silliness with some of yours.

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

I think the comment on speaking with the third person “we” was said by your Mark Twain…”Only the Queen of England and people with tapeworms can refer to themselves as ‘we’...” Rok on Mark…

Avatar absoluteliquid Moderator 968 post(s)

I don’t think my other personalities would apreciate that very much…

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

Twain didn’t deal with multiple personalities in his day…perhaps we need to up date his quote…

oh,yeah, says who…says me thats who…well come over here and say that…I am over here and I’m saying it…

Avatar absoluteliquid Moderator 968 post(s)

Well, I really think that’s out of line…YOU’RE out of line!!!...now, there’s no reason to get upset…yeah, there’s no reason to get upset…Stop ganging up on me!!!...there he goes gain…yes, it’s no use…Don’t patronize me!!!...

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

Mebbe we can get group rates on travel, abs…if we bring all of ourselves along…but I won’t share a room…with any of you…final…

Avatar jestervr 30 post(s)

slowly backs away from crazies…

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

smirk…we’re every where…be afraid…

Avatar kookookachoo Moderator 1,331 post(s)

Nuttin scares me, nuttin i tell ya, put em up, put em up! rb, you should be able to get a group rate, but not have to pay the single surcharge, provided that all your personalities will cooperate and occupy the same physical space. Right now, they do occupy the same cerebral space, (but that’s just right now). Maybe you could force them to cooperate and start a new religion. Ok, this post has changed it’s mind and is heading for the start your own religion thread, see ya.

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

there are at least 12 personalities sitting on me parlour sofa…I think we qualify as a religion…I shall of course be Pope…Oh,really?...get him…la-di-da…

Avatar absoluteliquid Moderator 968 post(s)

I am your king…I didn’t vote for you…me neither…you don’t vote for a king!!!...how can you become king then???...yeah…the Lady of the Lake…look, some watery bitch is no basis for a form of government…oh shove off…

AL, thanks so much if you are here. And I do want others to see this, too, of course, (why else publish in an open forum).

Some of us here are old-timers, and I call us that no matter how old this site is. I have noticed, though, that some people have a bad reaction to being called newbies or new, etc. Recall Zil, if you will, among others. I jumped on her right away (even though I tried to warn her) and from her later posts, it looks like I may have driven her away, not because I was such a bitch, but she says she doesn’t have time to deal with crap like i was handing out. Now, I hand out A LOT of CRAP, no mistake about it. And if I am being mean to new people, too bad, MAYBE. But I really regret some of the things I said and the way that I may have worded it, and it makes me sad that she may never know of that regret. She sounds like a heckuva person, and now I may never get to know her better. I DO apologize when I’m in the wrong and I do regret some of the things I say and I have said so before in these forums. (of course, one may have to wait awhile for that apology/information and if they back away immediately, there i am, apologizing to no one – lol) I am resolving to be a little nicer and more welcoming at first until I get to know some of these people better and try not to criticize too much right away. That said, do you think my welcome message to those two guys was a little more PC, and should I bother with this resolution? (SOMETIMES I can get a sense of stupidity immediately, but I certainly have made some mistakes, see above). I notice that you seem to have softened your tone a bit, too, e.g. you usually now just refer some people to other posts via a link or “please look around a little before you get too crazy”, etc. I have a lot of friends, but I think I can always use more and I may be alienating people right away. And a welcome message should say a little bit about the topic than just welcome (plus we have a topic for introducing yourself, but not everybody uses it or sees it right away). I value your input immensely, please tell me what you think…

P.S. I may not be able to respond right away, I have to run invoices, it’s Friday.
